Guilty Gear Strive got a new character trailer last night, and with it has new gameplay, and other bits of information. The latest fighter from Arc System Works has had a lot of hype drumming up for it, due to various factors, aside from its roster.
The title will be the next chapter in the Guilty Gear saga, after Xrd -REV.2-, and will be coming to PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Steam. Previously at BagoGames, we’ve covered the closed beta, the presence of rollback in Strive, and also Leo and Naogriyuki’s reveals. Today, though, we’ll be looking at Giovanna, the newest addition to the roster.
You can watch the trailer below.
Giovanna’s Trailer and Other Information
In the gameplay trailer, Giovanna’s reveal had some bits of gameplay shown. From what can be seen, it seems like she’ll have various attacks specializing in tricky movement and closing distance. She also has a green wolf spirit with her in combat, but aside from increasing the size of her hitboxes, its effect is currently unknown as of now.
The end of the trailer shows some information in terms of roster and the next trailer. For instance, the game will be coming in early 2021 with 15 playable characters. A brief note, but that’s smaller than Street Fighter V’s base game roster (at 16). Aside from that, no information on additional DLC fighters was shown.
At the last segment of the trailer, a teaser was shown of the next character and their trailer’s release date. The cinematic heavily implies that Anji Mito (a character from previous series entry XX Accent Core) will finally be making a playable return, but we don’t know that entirely yet. Aside from that, the next trailer will be released on New Year’s Day, 2021.
Guilty Gear Strive will be releasing early 2021 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam. Pre-orders are currently not available at this time. For moire information, you can visit the game’s website here.
