Two nights ago at the Fighting Game Roundtable, Arc System Works announced two new characters to their upcoming title, Guilty Gear Strive. In addition to these new characters, a key piece of release information was also revealed. If you’ve been following closely, we’ve covered the closed beta in great detail, which you can read here.
Previously at BagoGames, we’ve covered reveal trailers of characters like Zato-1 and Millia Rage, and broke down the Developers’ Backyard from a couple months ago. Today, let’s take a look at the Guilty Gear Strive Leo and Nagoriyuki trailers, both of which, you can watch below below (video credit: Xuses on YouTube).

Leo and Nagoriyuki
Leo Whitefang returns from previous title Guilty Gear Xrd: -SIGN-, as a base game character (he was a DLC character in the last entry). Leo had multiple appearances in -SIGN-’s story mode before becoming a playable character back in 2015. From his gameplay, he appears to retain his signature style of being a stance character and having multiple moves that switch sides with his opponent.
Nagoriyuki, on the other hand, has had almost no publication or lore revealed about him as of yet. Aside from today’s gameplay, and being teased in the initial announcement trailer (video credit: GameSpot Trailers) of the project, he’s a completely brand-new character to the series. From what was shown, Nagoriyuki utilizes his blade to deal damage with far-reaching strikes and absorbs something from the opponent after certain attacks.
But Wait, Release Info?
In addition to Leo Whitefang and Nagoriyuki’s trailers, three other pieces of information were revealed. When it comes to new characters, the next announcement will be in “early October”. And the other two pieces are part of the overall big picture for release info.
A tweet from Wario64 shows that the website updated its release platforms to include two others. Aside from its original PlayStation 4 release, Guilty Gear Strive will be releasing on PlayStation 5 and on PC via Steam. You can view the tweet below.
