Halo 4 Multiplayer Details Surface

Halo 4 Multiplayer Details SurfaceEarly this morning scans of Game Informer’s May 2012 cover story for Halo 4 were found online. A lot of new multiplayer information was revealed so let’s dive into it:

Infinity Multiplayer
Multiplayer has been rebranded as “Infinity”, which is a UNSC ship sent out on a deep-space mission. Your multiplayer character is a SPARTAN-IV recruit training in a virtual reality test chamber against other recruits.

Armor Abilities
Sprint is default for all characters and other abilities from Halo: Reach such as Hologram, Jetpack, and Active Camo make a return. A new ability known as Forerunner Vision allows for the player to see through walls. I’m speculating that this is similar to the HRV in Blacklight: Retribution and will render you unable to attack enemies during use.

Spartan Points
Spartan Points replaces Credits in Halo 4, and can be used to buy “armor, armor abilities, Spartan Ops missions (see below), and modifications to your character”.

Spartan Ops
This is a mode similar to Call of Duty‘s Spec-Ops but with a plotline. They can be bought with Spartan Points and will “span out over several months, encouraging players to return to the game”. This will be replacing the Firefight mode as well, offering 4 player co-op gameplay.

Regicide
A new gametype called “Regicide” was revealed, which is a twist on free-for-all that places a bounty on the head of the best player. Similar to the “High Threat” in Blacklight: Retribution.

Weapon Drops
Power weapons such as the Sniper Rifle and Rocket Launcher will drop into each map in drop pods. This will end camping of these highly valued weapons and allow for a mad rush to acquire them as well.

Instant Respawn
When you die in Halo 4’s multiplayer, you can instantly respawn by pressing the “X” button. The spawn system is a huge factor of how this will play out in-game, so we’ll have to wait and see how it develops.

Join Games In-Progress
This allows for spaces from quitters to be filled by those searching for games. It may be apart of an updated form of Halo: Reach’s “Active Roster” as well, but we’ll find that out when we see the menus in the coming months.

Game Informer subscribers can read the cover story when the magazine reaches their homes in the next few days. Stay tuned for more Halo 4 news here at BagoGames during E3 and Gamescom this summer. Also, tell us what you think about all of this multiplayer news!
