E3 2015: Halo 5 Guardians News and Gameplay

Update 3: Halo 5’s multiplayer is going to support 24 players online, the biggest Halo has ever enabled. The maps will also be around 4x bigger than previous Halo maps.

Update 2: The Didact-like enemy I spoke of is known as “The Warden”, and the Knight-like Promethean’s are called “Promethean Soldiers”; they’re supposed to be the most relocatable Promethean enemy to Spartans. Halo 5 is also supposed to be the most replayable Halo game of them all, thanks to the software of the Xbox One.

Update: Obviously, the story will be balancing back and fourth between Master Chief’s team and Spartan Locke’s, kind of like how the Arbiter and Chief was played in Halo 2. Also, Locke’s team will have special features such as an “Artemis Tracking System” that Master Chief’s team will be unable to use. This feature helps players find things like environmental opportunities or maybe weapon cashes.

Alright, so we were graced by the presence of a new trailer for Halo 5 followed by some gameplay from the campaign. We hear more on the conversation between Spartan Locke and The Arbiter, with Arbiter telling Locke about the Master Chief being the “best in his clan”, referring to the Spartan soldier group. Also revealing the location of Chief in his newest mission, the Covenant stronghold. (?)

When we get into the gameplay of the campaign, we find Spartan Locke taking command of his group (Including Buck from Halo 3: ODST). In Halo 5, it seems we get a new group command feature, where you can relocate and order your squad members to attack particular enemies. There’s also what looks like a new execution move: When your character is in the air, you can select a spot for him to slam down and send a shockwave that kills nearby enemies.

At the end of the gameplay, we see the Promethean guardian take form, and Spartan Locke is greeted by a new Promethean enemy who seems like the Didact from Halo 4. Spartan Locke is tossed aside, being told he isn’t welcome as the Master Chief.
