It may have seemed like only yesterday that there was a Halo game released – actually, it was just last month. Starting today (or at the time of this writing), owners of Halo: The Master Chief Collection can experience the series future, and for some, sooner than expected.
Halo developer 343 Industries has announced on Twitter that Halo 5: Guardians‘ open multiplayer beta is now officially open for business upon inquiry. The beta, which runs from now ’til Jan. 18th, will include a substantial build of the game’s forthcoming online multiplayer and go live at 9AM Pacific Time and 12 Noon Eastern Time.

Though Halo 5‘s beta doesn’t officially become available until later today, some fans on Reddit have allegedly discovered a workaround that lets you get in right now. By accessing the Halo Channel, watching/fast-forwarding all the Halo: Nightfall episodes, and selecting the Nightfall armor reward for Halo 5, which will then reportedly take you to a download store where Halo 5‘s beta is ready and waiting.
For those of you more interested in turning the pages of Master Chief’s past, we thought that The Master Chief Collection was the game that every Halo fan needs to own – which is to say we thought it was rather good.
