Hand of Fate out today for PC and Consoles

Today is the day for Brisbane Austraila developer Defiant Development as they’re about to unleash Hand of Fate on PC and consoles.

Hand of Fate was successfully funded via Kickstarter and had a very strong showing last year at PAX Prime 2014 in Seattle. The game is a mashup of RPG and rogue-like elements combined with a collectible card game.

Players will encounter a dealer who entices you to play a game of life and death. Be assured the dealer always has your worst intentions in mind. Players will start by collecting cards in their deck. These cards will consist of items such as loot, enemies, equipment, encounters, and even surprises. You will then play these cards which will have game-changing outcomes. Some of the other cards will require players to engage in third-person battles using familiar action-adventure combat mechanics.

“Hand of Fate builds upon the lessons we learned developing other popular games and pushes the envelope by applying table top and collectible card game elements,” says Morgan Jaffit, director, Defiant Development. “We combined a captivating fantasy environment with furious-fast paced combat and engrossing story-telling to create an experience that will keep gamers busy for months to come.”

Other features to be found in Hand of Fate are: 465 cards, over 1000 lines of dialogue, 13 boss battles, 24 different kinds of enemies, and over 100 game changing items like weapons and armor. Defiant Development offers two different game modes. First will the typical Story mode where players will need to defeat the dealer. The other mode is called Endless and here is where players will play through a never ending deck of cards as they try to climb the global leaderboards.

Hand of Fate is currently 20% off on Steam, bringing the price down to $19.99. Later today, the game will be available on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live.
