David Yates, the director of four of the eight Harry Potter films, will return to direct the spin-off film. Based on the book by JK Rowling, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is a story that does not continue the Harry Potter plot, but exists in the same universe. Rowling will be writing the screenplay as well. There was initially talk that director Alfonso Cuarón (Gravity, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban) would be returning to direct this film, but there may be a chance of him coming back yet if WB really decides to expand the project into a new series of films.
The movie is currently set for a theatrical debut by Warner Brothers on November 18th, 2016.
