Heads Will Roll in Rob Zombie’s French Revolution

It was 226 years ago that the French monarchy was overthrown and the Bastille was stormed. While it may not be revolutionary in the same regard, Rob Zombie directing a video game short is a rare sight indeed.

Assassin’s Creed: Unity has a new fan in famed musician and “Master of Horror” Rob Zombie, who’s latest work with the open-world action series draws from the very horrors of revolution itself.

Following the violent overthrow of King Louis the XV, 17oos France is in the midst of its most destructive political upheaval, all led by Maximillen Robespierre and followed by the bloody guillotines of the Reign of Terror. Behind this chaos and brutality are men “more dangerous than any king,” or so we’re told. If history proves correct according to Ubisoft, then the Templars can’t be far behind.

Illustrated by The Walking Dead co-creator, Tony Moore, the animated short brings to life all of the fear and quite literal terror brought on through one of France’s most infamous times. “Nothing is true, everything is permitted” may very well ring truer to the Revolution’s assassins than ever before.

Assassin’s Creed Unity releases this year on Oct. 28th to Playstation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC.
