Hell Returns With A Vengeance | Diablo 3 Preview

Spoiler Alert: This Game Is Freaking Awesome

Diablo 3 is the long awaited third installment in the Diablo franchise. Just to give those of you that don’t know a little insight as to how long people have been waiting for this game, Diablo 2 came out in June, 2000. That’s twelve long years for the few out there with the inability to count past ten. The game takes place in the same world as the previous two games, Sanctuary is the magical world that has had a fairly bad run with the forces of Heaven and Hell in the past. The humans that occupy this world have long since become accustomed to entire towns being slaughtered overnight by hordes of hellish demons. You begin the game by choosing one of several classes that all differ in play style but share a common goal, kicking the living shit out of evil.

"Evil Returns"

Have you ever felt the need to just pick up a sword and start decapitating things? I know I have. If you have this feeling on an average basis then the Barbarian sounds like your cut of the proverbial hellish cake that is Diablo 3.
The Barbarian has a variety of revamped skills at his/her disposal based on the use of incredible physical prowess. The barbarian is able to whirlwind through crowds, cleave through swarms, leap across crags, and crush opponents upon landing. The resource used by the barbarian is fury, which is generated through getting attacked by enemies, attacking enemies and through certain abilities. Fury is used for certain strong abilities and degenerates over time.

Do you enjoy controlling minions to then have them kill your foes in a flurry of blood and violence? I know I do.
The Witch Doctor is a new character reminiscent of the Diablo II necromancer, but with skills more traditionally associated with shamanism and voodoo culture. The witch doctor has the ability to summon monsters, cast curses, harvest souls, and hurl poisons and explosives at his enemies. Blizzard has stated that the Witch Doctor is not another version of the necromancer and that they may incorporate the necromancer in a future expansion. To power spells the Witch Doctor uses Mana, which regenerates slowly.

Do you have cat like reflexes and the prowess of an African gazelle? I know I do.
The Monk is a melee attacker, using martial arts to cripple foes, resist damage, deflect projectiles, attack with blinding speed, and land explosive killing blows. It combines the melee elements of Diablo II’s assassin class with the “holy warrior” role of the paladin. Blizzard has stated that the monk is not related in any way to the monk class from the Sierra Entertainment-made Diablo: Hellfire expansion. The Monk is fueled by spirit, which has defensive purposes and is slowly generated through attacking, though it does not degenerate.

Prepare to Fight Unrelenting Hordes of Evil!

Do you hate all things evil with a passion, and want to ensure that no matter the cause, hellish minions are once again vanquished from Sanctuary? I know I do.
The Demon Hunter combines elements of Diablo II’s amazon and assassin classes. Demon hunters use crossbows as their main weapon and also throw small bombs at enemies. Some of their skills have been revealed and among them are arrow skills such as Chain Arrow. The demon hunter is fueled by discipline and hatred. Hatred is a fast regenerating resource that is used for attacks, while Discipline is a slow regenerating resource used for defensive abilities.

Are you a master of the arcane arts? Do you hunger to gain as much power and knowledge as is humanly possible? I know for a fact that I am all of these things as in reality I am actually a wizard.
The Wizard is a version of the sorceress from Diablo II or the sorcerer from Diablo. The Wizard’s abilities range from shooting lightning, fire and ice at his/her enemies to slowing time and teleporting around enemies and through walls. The wizard fuels their spells with arcane power, which is a fast regenerating power source.

Will Diablo Return? I don't Know...Although that Would be Pretty Fucking Sweet.

The plot for Diablo 3 is very much a mystery, what we do know is that the story begins with your hero being called to the old town of Tristram (The same exact town that the previous two games began in) where a blue glowing star had crashed into a church and there are reported signs of evil around the town. With randomly generated areas of the game, each play through is never truly the same, which adds a whole new realm of replayability to the world of Sanctuary. This coupled with fast paced gameplay, amazing scenery, and intense boss battles, all wrapped around a tightly woven plot will make for a very interesting game. Diablo 3 releases on May 15th, 2012 and you can expect a review here on BagoGames as soon as it hits store shelves.
