Hidetaka Miyazaki Working on New Game

After directing dark-fantasy action-RPGs Demon’s Souls and Dark Souls for  From Software, it was recently announced that Hidetaka Miyazaki would not be directing the upcoming Dark Souls 2. Instead, directing duties will be handled by Tomohiro Shibuya and Yui Tanimura, while Miyazaki will hold a supervisory role only.

However, the acclaimed director, who worked on several Armored Core games before creating the Souls series, already seems to be thinking about his next directorial effort, as revealed in EDGE’s Dark Souls 2 article.

Although there are currently no concrete details as to what Miyazaki’s next game will be – a sequel or something completely original – he told EDGE, “sometimes I’d like to work on a warmer game – not necessarily casual, but warmer in terms of the atmosphere and the environment.”

“A warmer game” would certainly be a departure for Miyazaki after the often bleak and brutal worlds presented in Demon’s Souls and Dark Souls. Either way, many people will no doubt be keen to see what the director does next.
