As the Tokyo Gameshow approaches, Final Fantasy’s dam of leaks is gushing. The publisher’s now revealed a new Final Fantasy XV trailer in light of the excitement to come, showcasing a bit more about its hero, Noctis, and his apparent adventures across the world in a flashy sports car.
In the new trailer, we see Noctis and his allies Prompto, Gladiolus and Ignis traveling through Final Fantasy XV’s world in a sleek black car, battling giant beasties and making the occasional reference to the game’s extended development time–and the late Final Fantasy Versus XIII trailers of old.
Two items of note spring to mind, one of which is the onscreen action. Judging from the characters’ combat sequences, the game might be taking just a nod or two from Xenoblade Chronicles, apparently eliminating the series’ turn-based RPG elements and implementing some type of real-time action formula. The other thing? The world’s simply stunning, maybe even the closest the series has come to an open-world FF sandbox. Shoot.
Square Enix announced at this year’s Tokyo Game Show that the first playable demo for Final Fantasy XV will arrive alongside the release of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One next year. The latter’s further expected to be shown at the Tokyo Gameshow, which starts this week between Sep. 18th-21st.
Final Fantasy XV readies its blade for PS4 and Xbox One sometime in the unspecified future.
