Hitman is Getting a GOTY Edition with a New Campaign

Hitman was my game of the year last year. Its monthly updates with new missions was perfect for players to familiarize themselves with levels and become one with Agent 47. Fortunately, those who have not picked up the game yet and experienced one of the best stealth games in recent memory are going to have a hard time not buying Hitman – Game of the Year Edition. Announced today, the bundle will feature the entirety of the first season, a new four-mission campaign that will take you to reworked locales from the first season, some new suits and weapons, and new themed escalation contracts. The GOTY edition releases on November 7th. You can watch a trailer for the new bundle below.

The new campaign will be about Agent 47 trying to stop a virus from spreading as he revisits locations from the first season – all taking place in different times of day and new custom music from the same composer of the first season. Most importantly, there will be a complete reworking of AI behaviour, gameplay opportunities, outfits available, challenges, and characters. Despite it being recycled locales, this is definitely an exciting way to re-use those same areas and bring new life to them at the same time.

On top of the new campaign, the themed escalation contracts will ramp up the difficulty because apparently IO is planning some insane contracts, including one with seven targets (good luck, I’m not going to be able to do that). Besides these additions is also a clown costume and a bat, a cowboy suit and ‘The Striker’ – a magnum pistol – and a Raven suit with the ‘Sieger 300 Ghost’ – a new sniper rifle to kill targets from far away with.

There will be a new update for all owners of Hitman, regardless of if you upgrade to the GOTY edition, that will feature a redesigned UI, new Contracts Mode features, lighting improvements, a commemorative Elusive target unlock for those who participated in any Elusive targets during the first season, and the general fixes and improvements. What’s even cooler though is that if you missed any Elusive Targets, you’ll have a chance to try them out when they come back as time-limited targets. But if you already took a stab at one, you can’t replay that one. Your success or failure remains. This is great for those who jumped into the first season later, or for people just picking up the game for the first time with this GOTY bundle.

Finally, those who already own the first season will be able to get all the content from the GOTY version by paying $20 USD. The GOTY edition will run for $60 USD digitally for new users. Let us know in the comments below if you’re going to be picking the GOTY edition up or if you’ll be upgrading from the first season.
