SimCity, the ‘you-always-need-to-be-online-or-I-won’t-work’ game, will be going offline tonight as Electronic Arts begins work on a new update patch simply entitled “2.0”. Servers are expected to go offline around 6PM this evening (UK time) as the update will be released at around 8PM.

The update is expected to address numerous bugs whilst also implementing improvements across the board with fixes such as region filters, invitations to join regions and more being made to try and streamline the experience for SimCity fans.

It is worth noting however that this update WILL NOT be adding an offline mode, something which gamers have been pleading EA to deliver pretty much from the moment the game released.

What do you make of the “always-on” concept for video games? Do you agree with the benefits it provides or would you rather things stay as they are? Let us and our huge pool (or ocean we should say) of readers know your opinion by liking/posting in our Facebook community now by clicking here!
