Horizon: Zero Dawn Gets New Game Plus Mode And More

Horizon: Zero Dawn has been a massive success for Sony and Guerrilla Games for the PlayStation 4. Easily one of the best games of the year, Guerrilla managed to pull off a great action adventure game, and it’s about to get even better. While the first DLC for the game is still a little ways off, Guerrilla has released a brand new update for the game that adds a number of interesting new features that fans will want to make note of.

Horizon: Zero Dawn, Sony.

The first key thing is the addition of New Game Plus mode, so players can replay through Aloy’s adventure with all of the gear that they have, but with new challenges. On top of that is Ultra Hard mode, for an even greater challenge. It also appears that enemies have been tweaked and will pose an even greater challenge for players.  In addition to these two new modes there have been two new trophies added, for completing the game in both New Game Plus and Ultra Hard mode. There are also enhanced weapons and outfits to be earned, giving players more things to play with as they work through the game for their second go around.

Many were expecting New Game Plus to come packaged alongside the first Horizon: Zero Dawn DLC, The Frozen Wilds, but it is a pleasure to see that Guerrilla has dropped it early letting players dive in some more before the DLC drops. The Frozen Wilds is set to arrive sometime later this year, but is expected to be a substantial package with about ten hours of gameplay, and a whole new area to explore that many have agreed looks like Yellowstone national park.

Horizon: Zero Dawn has easily been one of the best gaming experiences of 2017, and it’s nice to see Guerrilla continuing to support the game and add in the things that players want, especially a way to extend the life of a great game past finishing it.
