There aren’t many movie tie-in games anymore due to them just not really being a good idea, I guess? The amount of money that goes into something that ends up feeling like a half-baked cash-in is absurd. However, there have been some good ones recently including The Mummy Demastered which surprised even us. And now there is a Hotel Transylvania game in the works and is expected to release this summer.
The game (which has no official title yet) takes place where Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation leaves off. That movie doesn’t come out until July 13th, so I suppose we’ll get this game around then or a little bit after. It involves a shipwreck and players will have to travel across a multitude of islands to save Dracula’s friends. Expect puzzle-solving as you maneuver through each level, and run into new allies who will offer unique abilities to help you along your way.
This sounds a lot like a classic PS2 platformer which were the standard for a lot of family movie tie-in titles. Terry Malham is the CEO of Outright Games, who are developing the upcoming Hotel Transylvania game, and there is confidence that this will be a quality product, “We know that this collaboration with Sony Pictures Animation, combined with our expertise at fantastic family entertainment, will mean we can bring this franchise to life in the form of a fun game for players everywhere.”
There isn’t anything concrete other than that the movie is coming out this summer and will be available on Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Let us know in the comments below whether you’re interested in playing a game based on Hotel Transylvania.
