I Am Ali Official Trailer Revealed

I Am Ali

Revered by many as one of the greatest boxers to ever step foot in the ring, Muhammad Ali’s life is about to be explored in-depth in a highly anticipated documentary called I Am Ali, which received a brand-new trailer today.

The trailer features a whole host of family members and friends close to Ali discussing what kind of man he truly was outside of the ring, with other well-known boxing figures such as Mike Tyson offering his thoughts on “The Greatest.” Additionally, one of Ali’s most formidable opponents, George Foreman, appears in the trailer and reminiscences about their iconic fight from Kinshasa, Zaire in 1974, which was famously dubbed as “The Rumble in the Jungle.”

Starting off his boxing career under the name of Cassius Clay, a 22-year-old Clay shocked the entire world when he defeated the-then world heavyweight champion Sonny Liston in 1964 and created one of the biggest upsets in boxing history.

Ali’s life was controversial outside of the boxing ring, as the three-time world champion converted to Islam in 1975 and joined the radical religious movement known as the Nation of Islam, where he shared a close relationship with leader Elijah Muhammad and Malcolm X.

Following an end to his boxing career in the 1980s, Ali was diagnosed with Parkinson’s syndrome in 1984, but the former boxer has remained a high-profile figure since then in a number of sports-related events, including the moment when he lit the flame of the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia.

Directed by Clare Lewins, I Am Ali is scheduled for release October 10th, 2014 in cinemas.
