Iris Fall has everything that should make me absolutely fall in love with it. The game is stylized, the imagery is surreal, there’s plenty of puzzles, and the narrative is conveyed with visuals alone. Yet, after completing Iris Fall’s two-hour campaign; I felt hollow and unsatisfied. The story feels incomplete, unclear, and way too short. Sure, the puzzles are fun and the stylization is neat, but that doesn’t excuse the lack of content and clarity.

The game has you control a young girl that is lured by a cat to a strange castle. Entering the castle reveals she’s trapped in Alice in Wonderland type scenario. The only way out is to solve a plethora of light and shadows based puzzles, but venturing further will reveal the sinister plot within. However, that will probably be the only thing you will glean from this.

I did understand other aspects of Iris Fall’s narrative, but other’s were unclear and confusing. Sadly, I can’t discuss it because that is towards the end of the game and this isn’t a spoiler review. I did try scavaging the internet for answers, but nothing came up. So, I’m stuck with a game that’s more focused on bewildering the players with stylized bizarre imagery, than providing a concrete story.
