Iron Maiden are set to team up with Roadhouse Interactive, the Vancouver-based developers behind Warhammer 40,000: Carnage, and 50cc Games to create a unique free-to-play turn-based RPG set in the expansive Iron Maiden universe. The game, titled Iron Maiden: Legacy of the Beast, will be available this summer for iOS and Android devices.
Players will take control of Eddie, the band’s iconic mascot (which has graced all of their album covers since their self-titled debut), as he attempts to recollect the pieces of his soul which has been shattered into pieces and spread across time and space. The game will feature music from the band’s career, including live recordings that have previously never been released. The music will be altered for the game by Iron Maiden’s recording engineer, Tony Newton, and under supervision of founding member, Steve Harris.
The music will be used in-game as a way of enhancing the gameplay (though what that entails is unknown at this point). On top of that, Legacy of the Beast will use the characters and lyrics from Iron Maiden’s discography as a way to color the game’s world. Fans of the band’s music will have plenty to chew on when the game is released, but those who are not well-versed in the Iron Maiden catalogue can rest easy as the game is being developed to “appeal to gamers beyond the Maiden fan base.”
