Nintendo touts new Wii U console at E3 but CEO avoids spotlight

It was announced today, as Nintendo made its annual year end fiscal report, that Satoru Iwata, the current CEO of Nintendo of Japan, has been appointed the new CEO of Nintendo of America.  Reggie “the Regginator” Fils-Aime’s role at Nintendo will not change but he will no longer be under the direction of Tatsumi Kimishima who is making a move to Japan this summer as the new general manager of corporate Analysis and Administration and manager of General Affairs.

Two of those who held Kimishima’s new position in the past were Yoshihiro Mori and Masaharu Matsumoto, who will retire soon from the company.  Making a statement on the change Nintendo said,

Such change has been made to support the company’s unified global strategy, allow streamlined decision making and enhance Nintendo’s organizational agility in the current competitive environment.”

CNET stated that this new change takes place as the Big ‘N’ has fallen way short of their projected earnings this past year due to fledgling sales of it’s new Wii U console.
