J.J Abrams Makes Mistakes: Star Wars The Force Awakens Edition

<p><strong>&ast;This article will contain spoilers for Star Wars&colon; The Force Awakens&ast;<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>After directing the critically and commercially beloved sequel&sol;reboot&sol;remake&comma; <em>Star Wars&colon; The Force Awakens<&sol;em>&comma; you&&num;8217&semi;d think that J&period;J Abrams would give him self a good pat on the back and look forward to his next project&period; But good ol&&num;8217&semi; Abrams can&&num;8217&semi;t quite catch a break with the fans&period; After admitting that he overuses lens flares&comma; to sulking about making <em>Star Trek Into Darkness<&sol;em>&comma; one of the most hated pieces of canon in the Star Trek universe&comma; he admits to another one of his screw-ups&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Fans became a bit riled up about a small scene between General Leia&comma; Chewbacca&comma; and new lead Rey&period; After witnessing the death of Han Solo&comma; Chewie and Rey arrive back to the home base to debrief and close out the film&period; Leia sees Rey right when she gets off the ship and approaches her slowly for a somber hug&period; How could Leia ignore Chewie&comma; arguably Han&&num;8217&semi;s best friend&comma; and go straight to Rey&quest;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&&num;8220&semi;My thinking at the time was that Chewbacca&comma; despite the pain he was feeling&comma; was focused on trying to save Finn and getting him taken care of&period; So I tried to have Chewbacca go off with him and focus on Rey&comma; and then have Rey find Leia and Leia find Rey&period; The idea being that both of them being strong with the Force and never having met&comma; would know about each other — that Leia would have been told about her beyond what we saw onscreen and Rey of course would have learned about Leia&period; And that reunion would be a meeting and a reunion all in one&comma; and a sort of commiseration of their mutual loss&period;&&num;8221&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>While that is a strong case for the importance&comma; it still comes across as a little ignorant to the basic knowledge of these characters&period; Then again&comma; I think Abrams can rest easy that Star Wars fans are choosing this moment to really pick on him&period; Now that&&num;8217&semi;s an achievement&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>Source&colon; <&sol;strong><a href&equals;"http&colon;&sol;&sol;www&period;slashfilm&period;com&sol;leia-hugging-rey-jj-abrams-force-awakens&sol;&num;more-343074">Slashfilm<&sol;a><&sol;p>&NewLine;
