With David Ayer already attached to direct the Suicide Squad movie and a host of actors being eyed for the roles, the most important role everybody will be interested in is that of the Joker. According to The Wrap, Jared Leto is currently being eyed for the role of the clowned prince of crime. Leto most recently won an Oscar for his work on Dallas Buyer’s Club and a role like this would certainly garner plenty of attention, especially for taking the role previously played by an Oscar winner. It might also be his break into the comic book movie seen as he almost considered for the role of Doctor Strange. Other potential actors cited for the project include Tom Hardy, Margot Robbie and Will Smith.
Suicide Squad currently has a theatrical release date set for August 5, 2016.
