Kaze And The Wild Masks Coming March 26

A story trailer just released for the upcoming 90s style platformer

Kaze

Kaze and the Wild Masks is an upcoming platformer from PixelHive and Soedesco that seeks to capture the magic of 90s platformers. A story trailer was also just released, introducing us to the background story for the game. The game seems to use entirely high-quality hand-drawn animation, which is showcased beautifully in the trailer.

A 90s Tribute

Judging by the gameplay, it seems Kaze and the Wild Masks will be a true 90s tribute. It’s easy to see the influence of games such as Jazz Jackrabbit and Rayman in the art style. We would be lying if we didn’t say we were excited to play this!

The game has you controlling Kaze as you aim to save your friend Hogo from a curse. Chaos has spread across the islands, though you’re equipped with masks that give you new powers to tackle the dangers.

The Tiger mask gives you the ability to pounce like a tiger, the Eagle mask allows you to soar through the sky, the Lizard mask allows you to sprint, and the Shark mask makes you rule the sea.

Kaze and the Wild Masks offers 30+ areas to explore, with over 50 bonus levels as well. Though with the masks at your disposal, it seems gameplay will be mixed up enough to keep the game from getting stale.

Coming Out Soon

In conclusion, the game definitely seems worth checking out for the pixel art alone. It’s always nice to see games with furry characters, as the style lends itself very well to pixel art. To be honest, this might be the closest we’ll get to a new Jazz Jackrabbit game.

Kaze and the Wild Masks launches on March 26, with a physical edition coming May 25. It will be available on PC (Steam), PS4, Xbox One, and Switch. If the game looks interesting to you, you can already pre-order it digitally, which will give you 12 skins for Kaze included!
