The Xbox One and Kinect 2.0 formally parted ways last June following Microsoft’s announcement of the de-bundling of the two last May and since then, it’s been a mystery how much the system’s motion control peripheral device would sell for all by its lonesome. Now it looks like the Kinect’s solo act is going to cost you a prettier penny.
The new-gen Kinect will go on sale on this October 7th for $149.99 and will come with the downloadable Harmonix title Dance Central Spotlight. The downloadable title comes out over a month after its September 2nd release.
Word of the bundle comes on the heels of website WP Central’s claim that the peripheral would go on sale “on or around” October 16 for $149 in the U.S. first.
In July, another listing appeared on the Microsoft online store for a standalone Kinect 2.0 for PC for $199, but Microsoft has not confirmed when (and if) the peripheral will be sold separately for the Xbox One.
Earlier this year the company retailed the Xbox One minus the Kinect starting at $399. Several bundles include the recent white Xbox One, previously available only to Microsoft’s Xbox team, at retail packaged with Insomniac’s third-person shooter Sunset Overdrive for $399 as well.
