Kingdom Hearts Unchained Key Confirmed For North America and Europe

Tetsuya Nomura, the director of the Kingdom Hearts series, has confirmed to Famitsu Magazine that Kingdom Hearts Unchained Key will be released in North America and Europe.

In response to a question put forth by Famitsu about the use of medals instead of cards in the game, Nomura explained, “Since we are considering developing this game overseas, we have adjusted it accordingly.”

The release of Kingdom Hearts Unchained Key seems like it may be soon, as Americans are currently testing it. The testing phase is typically the last stage of development, but as of right now, Square Enix has no official release date for the game. It is most likely going to be releasing on iOS and Android. Whether or not the game will release in 2015 for Japan only and later on for other territories is unclear.

For those who do not know, Kingdom Hearts Unchained Key is an iOS and Android port of the Japan only browser game, Kingdom Hearts X (chi), which takes place many years before Kingdom Hearts when more keybladers were present in the worlds. The origin story of Kingdom Hearts X (chi) is prevalent for the future of Kingdom Hearts as it includes details on a highly important relic called the Tome of Prophecy, which is mentioned briefly in Kingdom Hearts Re: Coded HD ReMIX.

We will let you know as soon as we hear more details. We will reach out to Square Enix for comment.
