Last week was an interesting week to say the least for Nintendo fans across the world as Nintendo hosted yet another Nintendo Direct, covering the latest Wii U and Nintendo 3DS news such as new games, services and (in typical Nintendo fashion) pushing games backwards to make us pin all hopes on E3 (Pikmin 3).

However, as we reported yesterday in our UK all-formats chart post, Fire Emblem: Awakening, released on Friday 19th, managed to claim third place against the big-boys so to speak meaning that the big N have to be doing something right considering that a single handheld title was taking out competition from titles which appear on all manner of consoles.

Perhaps this could be then, by sales of the Nintendo 3DS increased by a whopping 49% last week, meaning that your chances of actually StreetPassing with someone just increased yet again. It’s worth noting that this may be due to a special edition of the 3DS XL in which it came bundled with Fire Emblem: Awakening and featured the Fire Emblem logo sketched into the top of it.
