FUNimation has announced their release dates for Black Butler: Book of Circus and Black Butler: Book of Murder. In addition, they’ve also revealed the English voiceover cast for both of these projects.
Black Butler: Book of Circus is the newest season of the series, and follows the Noah’s Ark Circus arc from the original manga. In this arc, Ciel and Sebastian infiltrate a traveling circus in order to find out why so many children mysteriously disappear whenever the circus rolls through town. In the course of their investigation, they meet the charming and colorful performers, each of whom harbors a dark secret.
Book of Circus sees the return of J. Michael Tatum as the voice of Sebastian, with Brina Palencia reprising her role of Ciel. Of course the new season will also welcome a slew of new enigmatic characters to the series, featuring voice-acting veterans such as Matthew Mercer playing Joker, Tia Ballard as Beast, Vic Mignogna as Peter, and Spike Spencer as Snake.
Black Butler: Book of Circus will be released on April 19th with the Limited Edition Blu-Ray/DVD Combo Pack. It features a beautifully stylized chipboard box and a premium foldout digipak, which displays the gorgeous artwork from the original Japanese releases.
Black Butler: Book of Murder is also soon to be available for pre-order. Book of Murder is a two-part OVA series (essentially two short movies which combined are about two hours long).
The miniseries takes place around a classic murder-mystery scenario in Phantomhive Manor, with Sir Arthur Conan Doyle appropriately making an appearance as a character, voiced by Taliesin Jaffe.
The OVA set will be released also as a Blu-Ray/DVD combo on May 17th.
