Layers of Fear: Legacy is out now on the Nintendo Switch. It can be purchased from the Nintendo eShop for £17.99/€19.99/$19.99. Developed by indie studio, Bloober Team, Layers of Fear appeared on Steam Early Access in 2015. The full-fledged PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One launch in February 2016 saw positive critical reception with average review scores in the low-high 70’s.
Layers of Fear: Legacy is Bloober Team’s effort to translate that horror experience onto weaker hardware with minimal compromises. CEO of Bloober Team, Piotr Babieno, commented, “At Bloober Team we are committed to creating immersive experiences and telling unconventional stories. We want our players to almost forget they are playing a game and get swept up in the experience and we think the Nintendo Switch is the perfect platform for this. We have redesigned the game with the specifications of the Switch in mind and will be taking advantage of the full array of the console’s features in order to absorb the players in the atmosphere of the game. We’re excited that we can now share this game with all of the fans who have been eagerly awaiting its launch on Nintendo Switch“.
The Nintendo Switch iteration includes the Inheritance DLC, which expands the base game’s plot as you control the painter’s daughter. Layers of Fear: Inheritance launched August 2nd, 2016 to mixed reviews. Some critics liked it, but the general consensus falls below the threshold set by the base experience.
