While seeing Android on laptops is not exactly a novel idea, Lenovo is giving it a try with the company’s first Android-powered laptop, the A10.
The big draw is its 10.1-inch fold-back touchscreen display. I shudder to think how it would feel pressing those keys on the back. Specs-wise, the A10 rocks a 1.6GHz quad-core Rockchip RK3188 Cortex-A9 processor with 2GB of RAM, a 1,366 x 768 display, Android 4.2, and 32GB of internal storage. Fortunately, the laptop has a microSD slot to allow for further storage expansion. In terms of ports, we are looking at two USB 2.0 ports and one HDMI port. Oh, and there’s a VGA webcam thrown in for shrieks and giggles.
According to Lenovo, the A10 weighs 2.2 pounds, with the laptop allowing for nine hours of battery life with continuous video playback. Pricing and availability of the A10 depends on the region, though previous rumors have pegged at a $340 price tag. Not too shabby for a laptop that could ironically compete with Google’s own Chromebooks.
