Diablo 2 saw many loyal players leveling and co-oping with each other for years after its release but opinions on the third game in the trilogy have varied; some find it to be much too easy and that there isn’t enough to do once players reach the maximum level.
Even creator, David Brevik has voiced some concerns, saying that, “They made some decisions with the loot system that were very different than the way that we did it in Diablo 2…I am sad because people are outraged and, you know, some of the decision they have made are not the decisions I would make and there have been changes in philosophy and that hasn’t gone over very well.”
Coming in patch 1.0.4. are some changes that the Diablo 3 team hopes will improve some aspects of the game such as buffs to legendary items and some big changes to how the game’s character classes function. Also coming in the newest patch is what is being called a ‘Paragon System’. This will allow players who have reached the max level of 60 to continue to improve their character with an additional 100 Paragon levels. Each level will take experience gained and for each level, players’ characters will gain core attributes and +3% Magic and Gold Find. Blizzard’s hope is that these new additions will bring back some of the players who have gotten tired of the limited leveling system.
