Life Is Strange Receives Free Developer Commentary Update

Today Life Is Strange received developer commentary DLC for free to all users. Square Enix developer, SQUARE_JASON, took to Steam to provide us with patch notes. Along with a few minor changes to subtitles and being able to change language at any point within the game rather than being required to load the main menu first is a neat touch. The interesting point about the developer commentary is that it’s 1hr in length. Which is quite long for a developer commentary just by itself. Typically this form of commentary would be added over the top of in-game audio. Something we should all appreciate, even if it was a little late to the table.

To get the update if it hasn’t already downloaded you will simply just have to restart Steam and the download should start. If the download doesn’t start then you would need to tick the install box (right click – properties – DLC) Although you may be confused by the 4GB patch that was also released today, who knows why subtitles were 4GB, the developer commentary download is 2.9GB in total. At least the developer thought of not forcing people to download 2.9GB if they didn’t want it… but it’s strange because the developer commentary option is enabled now via the previously mentioned patch. Not a bad thing by any means, though it still may be a little large for some people.

Here’s what the developer has to say about the description of this content.

“Directors’ commentary will be available to download on 19th January.

An exclusive behind the scenes interview with the team at DONTNOD as they discuss the inspirations and challenges they faced when creating the critically acclaimed and award winning Life is Strange. No fan will want to miss this.
