Like Monster Hunter? Can Draw? Then Capcom Wants You to Design a Weapon

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate Sceenshot 10

To celebrate the western release of Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate next year, Capcom is calling on all the fans to help design some new weaponry for the game. They are only taking one design per person and the weapon you submit must fit into one of the 14 existing classes:  Sword & Shield, Dual Blades, Great Sword, Long Sword, Hammer, Hunting Horn, Lance, Gunlance, Switch Axe, Light Bowgun, Heavy Bowgun, Bow, Insect Glaive or Charge Blade.

To enter the competition you must send you weapon name and design illustration to contest@capcom.com with the subject line MH4U WEAPON DESIGN. If you want you can also include a short 100 word description of the weapon’s power and abilities. After the deadline on May 5 the Monster Hunter developers will pick two winners, one from the Americas region and one from the PAL region, who will get their design realised in the game. Take a look at Capcom’s blog post for all the details and remember to check out the terms and conditions. Capcom ran a similar competition for Monster Hunter Tri which resulted in the inclusion of the three weapon’s you see below.

They certainly look very good but this time I’d like to see some more humorous weapons get into the game, like the Sharq Attaq. Unfortunately I will be prevented from winning due to the slight problem of having the artistic talent of 4 year old. This means that my design of a Nicholas Cage based Insect Glaive (which shouts ‘Not The Bees’ every time you hit a monster with it) probably won’t come true.
