LittleBigPlanet 2 Vita Cross-Play DLC an Answer to SmartGlass and Wii U

<p>Sony and <em>LittleBigPlanet<&sol;em> may have an answer to the Wii U’s <a href&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;bagogames&period;com&sol;wii-game-pad-asymetric-play&sol;">asymmetrical multiplayer<&sol;a> and <a href&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;bagogames&period;com&sol;xbox-smartglass-usable-smartphones-tablets&sol;">Microsoft’s<&sol;a> SmartGlass Technology&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The upcoming <em>LittleBigPlanet 2<&sol;em>’s Vita Cross-Play DLC sounded like a simple Remote Play title for the console&period; The experience goes much deeper than that&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The Cross-Play DLC will allow the use of the Vita as a controller for Media Molecule’s <em>LittleBigPlanet 2<&sol;em>&period;<em> <&sol;em>However&comma; the experience does not stop there&period; The DLC allows for a level being built on the PS3 version&comma; players can build a corresponding level on the Vita using touch controls&comma; just like the upcoming Tarsier Vita version of <em>LittleBigPlanet<&sol;em>&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>A staff member from <a href&equals;"http&colon;&sol;&sol;www&period;theverge&period;com&sol;gaming&sol;2012&sol;6&sol;5&sol;3066614&sol;littlebigplanet-2-with-vita-cross-play-is-sonys-answer-to-wii-u-and">The Verge<&sol;a> was able to get hands-on experience&period; He saw a level with three players on the PS3 wondering around a circular maze inside a spaceship&period; The Vita player flew the ship through a side-scrolling shooter level on his own screen&period; As the Vita player moved the ship side-to-side&comma; the PS3 players’ maze rotated&period; When the Vita player crashed into objects&comma; gravity was temporarily suspended for the other players&period; When PS3 players found power-sups on the ship&comma; the Vita player’s ship received missile and laser upgrades&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>During his hands on level&comma; he played on the PS3 and used a Vita as a controller&period; During play&comma; he unlocked &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;Apps” for the Vita&comma; once activated by touching them&comma; he could change the game&period; A radar app lead to hidden items&comma; a tractor beam app allowed objects to be dragged and dropped&comma; and a telecommunications app was used to ask for help from a guide&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Jumping through a pip on the TV screen brought SackBoy onto the Vita’s screen&period; Navigating through traps on the Vita screen led to a bounce pad which launched SackBoy back onto the TV screen&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The two levels were created with tools that will be available to every player who gets the DLC&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&lpar;Via <a href&equals;"http&colon;&sol;&sol;www&period;theverge&period;com&sol;gaming&sol;2012&sol;6&sol;5&sol;3066614&sol;littlebigplanet-2-with-vita-cross-play-is-sonys-answer-to-wii-u-and">The Verge<&sol;a>&rpar;<&sol;p>&NewLine;
