A “Live Blog” of the Nintendo Direct 11/05/2014

(It’s a slight mess, but the below is a copied and pasted conversation between me and two friends who could not watch the newest Nintendo Direct live, so I “Live Blogged”it to them)

Alright; the Direct has started, and so has my “live blog!”

Looks like Majora’s Mask remake, for 3DS

The music is kinda scary

lolz…creepy Majora music

IWATA IS BACK

(Satoru Iwata…he was injured for a while, and hospitalized, but he’s here now)

They’re showing gameplay of Majora’s Mask 3D, and they want to remain the original level of challenge, while making the game accessible to anyone with smooth gameplay experiences; available in Spring 2015

Now, here’s Bill Trinen from the “Nintendo Treehouse” He’s talking about “Codename Steam”; something I’m not crazy interested in, but it’s a 3DS game about taking on aliens in turn-based combat.

LINCOLN! One cool thing about that game is that Abe Lincoln is playable…this might be the first game that one can be Abraham Lincoln in

XD

Now Bill Trinen is talking about NES Remix; it looks as though “Ultimate NES Remix” is coming to the 3DS; it combines the best challenges from the first two games on Wii U,

and now he’s talking about Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, for Wii U

here comes a new trailer that shows some of the 70 new stages in the game

this game looks bonkers!

Lots of replay value, as each level also has “Challenges” (Game is available Dec. 5th), these “Challenges” are extra trials and tribulations you can complete to get extra stuff/unlockables

Now Bill is talking about Amiibo in Smash Bros for Wii U

both launching on Nov. 21st this year; there are 12 Amiibo launching with the game… with others launching later in December

now it’s showing how Amiibo can interact with Mario Kart 8…here’s a new trailer, with the F-Zero level being shown off

everyone is racing in F-Zero vehicles (called the Blue Falcon)…hovering, going really fast

WHOAH!

It’s Link (on the Master Cycle, with Hylian Kite and Triforce Tires)

now they’re showing off Link in Mario Kart 8, and a Hyrule Castle-looking level… coins are replaced with Rupees!

Wario’s Gold Mine, the elder Road (Rainbow Road), etc. are retro courses that are coming

That was footage of Mario Kart 8’s DLC pack 1. It showed off a new Rainbow Road course as well,,, the one from SNES

it’s releasing November 13th!

when you scan compatible Amiibo in Mario Kart 8, your Mii can dress up like the Amiibo character you put on the scanner… like a Captain Falcon costumed Mii racer, or Fox, Samus, etc

Now they’re discussing Kirby’s new Wii U game, where Kirbz is made of clay and you draw rainbow lines to influence his path of where to go. There’s a multiplayer mode for up to 4 players… any non-Kirby player can be a Waddle Dee, and the Waddle Dee characters can even carry Kirby around

This game can also use Amiibo…the game is called “Kirby and the Rainbow Curse”, February 2015 is the release date

Now they’re showing the Link Amiibo in Hyrule Warriors,,, which unlocks a weapon called “The Spinner” but other Amiibo can also be used on Hyrule Warriors, to see a cool new weapon, or material, etc.

Twilight Princess costume packs and Amiibo functionality can be downloaded later this month for Hyrule Warriors

But back to Smash Bros now,,,they’re showing one of my predictions!

The DUCK HUNT DOG trailer!!!

haha, there’s an epic 8-bit duck hunt scene going on, and then they burst out of 8-bit, into the HD world of Smash,

a great cinematic

and the Duck lands on the dog’s back, and it’s sooo cute

LOVE the DUCK HUNT DOG
PRAISE, ALL HAIL, etc

SHIRTLESS SHULK!?!! They just showed Shirtless Shulk. I can’t unsee it, ack!

They just showed a Duck Hunt stage really fast! So it looks like this is a new stage we now know of

Whoah! Now they’re also selling the Original Duck Hunt game on Wii U via the Virtual Console

you use the Wii Remote to shoot the screen, etc

Okay, now they’re talking about Indie games/titles,

I’m not gonna ‘live blog’ about all of this; it doesn’t interest me a WHOLE lot…

The Demo for Sonic Boom on 3DS is available after this Direct

Now Shigeru Miyamoto is on screen! He’s been working on several GamePad-themed Wii U games

He’s also been working on a Pikmin themed animation short film(s)

He wanted to create an animation that lets you see the actual Pikmin up closer and see what they’re doing close up

Looks beautiful…after this Nintendo Direct, you can purchase the short movies for $4.99 either on 3DS in 3D, or HD versions on Wii U for the same price
There’s also a Demo version of Pikmin 3 for Wii U avaialble free after this Direct is done, so if you haven’t played Pikmin 3 yet, you can do the demo! and your save data will carry over if you decide to buy the full game

Now Iwata is back to talk about Xenoblade Chronicles X: hasn’t been much discussed since E3. The player conducts planetory research outside of “New Lose Angeles” (which is the home base), and some missions will further the storyline, some have you do small favors for locals,, and it’s basically just a massive world to explore kinda RPG

GamePad is a navigation system

Targeting a 2015 relase for this game

and now, the final title they’re talking about today is Splatoon! YAY, with a new trailer

Looks like an army of strange squids are coming after us; let’s see what this is

Ah, looks to be a story-mode kinda thing, with lots of platformer action and puzzles and whatnot;
and yes, it’s a single-player campaign…and those enemies are Octopi

Squid vs Octopus

Splatoon will be available in the 2nd Quarter of 2015
And now the Direct is over

Thanks for Reading!
