Masahiro Sakurai, director of the Super Smash Bros. franchise has revealed another new stage for the upcoming game via Miiverse. Following on from last weeks announcement of a Animal Crossing themed stage, this week’s stage is also based on a 3DS game, Pokemon X and Y. The stage is called Lumiose City, and is the largest metropolis in Pokemon’s Kalos region. The main feature of the city is the Prism Tower, which is based on the Effiel Tower in Paris. On the subject of this stage, Mr Sakurai had this to say: ‘The Prism Tower rises above Lumiose City. Up until a few seconds ago, the fighters were brawling on top of that tower. No, really.”
As one of Nintendo’s largest franchises,Pokemon has had numerous characters, stages and items in the Smash Bros. franchise. Whilst Pikachu and Lucario have been confirmed as returning for the next instalment in the series, there has been no confirmation of the return of the Pokemon Trainer. Let’s hope we hear about his inclusion soon.
