Tweets by Nintendo of America and Nintendo of Europe confirm that they will be adding a Mercedes-Benz GLA class vehicle to Mario Kart 8 as DLC. This new content has already been announced for Japan and will hit Europe and North America sometime this summer. Being that the new kart will be free in Japan, it is expected to be released for free in the West as well.
This collaboration between Nintendo and Mercedes-Benz is certainly unexpected, and is made even more weird by the crossover trailer which you can see above. Hopefully this news means that there will be more substantial DLC hitting Mario Kart 8 in the future. What kind of additional content would you like to see?
