Marvel Heroes Being Shut Down

<p>While I was never that into <em>Marvel Heroes<&sol;em>&comma; it did tickle a very specific fancy for someone who likes Marvel&&num;8217&semi;s roster of characters and enjoys mindlessly clicking through waves of enemies for loot&period; The <em>Diablo<&sol;em>-like was released on PC in 2013 and this year saw ports of it come to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One&period; Unfortunately&comma; it looks like Disney has severed ties with the developer&comma; Gazillion Entertainment&comma; effectively putting the final notch in <em>Marvel Heroes <&sol;em>and spelling out an impending shut down of the games&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The news comes way of a Marvel representative who sent out an e-mail which announced that the game would be shutting down&period; Marvel also stated to expect updates about the situation as they become available&period; Kotaku talked to developers of the game and discovered that three rounds of lay-offs had occurred within a year of the game&&num;8217&semi;s launch&comma; and it isn&&num;8217&semi;t surprising to hear that updates to the free-to-play game were consistently a source of crunch time as employees at Gazillion worked 80 hour weeks sometimes&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>What&&num;8217&semi;s most surprising is that the game was released on PS4 and Xbox One earlier this year and is being shut down in the same year&period; That&&num;8217&semi;s a real bummer for those who put money into the game already&comma; but it is a free-to-play title so the loss for those who didn&&num;8217&semi;t spend money is just equal to their time spent&period; Of course&comma; the community had signs that things weren&&num;8217&semi;t looking good for <em>Marvel Heroes<&sol;em>&period; <em>Thor&colon; Ragnarok <&sol;em>came out in theaters and you&&num;8217&semi;d expect a game with Marvel characters to try and do a tie-in but no such event occurred&comma; nor did any Halloween event which is a mainstay for any free-to-play game really&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Did you spend any time with <em>Marvel Heroes <&sol;em>and how do you feel about the game shutting down&quest; Let us know in the comments below&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>Source&colon; <a href&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;kotaku&period;com&sol;disney-shuts-down-marvel-heroes-1820475273&quest;utm&lowbar;campaign&equals;Socialflow&lowbar;Kotaku&lowbar;Facebook&amp&semi;utm&lowbar;source&equals;Kotaku&lowbar;Facebook&amp&semi;utm&lowbar;medium&equals;Socialflow">Kotaku<&sol;a><&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;
