Marvel vs Capcom Goes Infinite In 2017

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite - PlayStation Experience 2016: Reveal Trailer | PS4

Marvel Vs Capcom Infinite was revealed by Capcom at the Playstation Experience, finally putting an end to rumours that have made the rounds over the last month. The trailer that debuted showed Marvel and Capcom mainstays Ryu, Mega Man and Iron Man, whom were also joined by newcomer Captain Marvel. Captain America has also been confirmed to be in the game. However, there have been rumours that it will be Marvel Cinematic Universe characters specifically in the game, which potentially means no Deadpool or Wolverine. The game looks to continue in the hyper style of fighting the series is known for, as opposed to Capcom’s Street Fighter V, which definitely now looks more methodical in comparison.

A key change in the gameplay however, will be 2v2 gameplay as opposed to the 3v3 that the past few entries have utilized. The game will contain a cinematic story mode, as well as a number of other modes, such as Training, Mission and classic Arcade mode. The title Infinite does indeed refer to the Infinity Gems, the powerful stones that have been key to numerous Marvel stories over the past decades, and are playing a key role in the MCU movies currently. It will be interesting to see if they use the stones like in the original Marvel Super Heroes fighting game by Capcom, where players can collect and use the stones to power up during gameplay.

Marvel Vs Capcom Infinite will be coming to Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC sometime in late 2017. It was also announced that Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3 is available exclusively on the Playstation Store. The game includes all of the DLC, and runs in 1080p and 60 fps. This is great news for fighting fans, but the real challenge will be waiting a year to return to our favourite fantasy fighting match-ups.
