Godzilla 2 already has so much finalized at this point as Legendary movies forward with developing the revived franchise. In addition to director Gareth Edwards is returning to direct the sequel, writer Max Borenstein is on board as well after having wrote this year’s Godzilla. While Edwards has stated that the sequel will be very similar in tone to the first film, not much else is known about the story seeing as how it’s in the very early stages of development. However, there has been mention of the monster list that will include franchise familiars Rodan, Mothra and Ghidorah. Such a roster just screams Destroy All Monsters which was one of the biggest giant monster smack-down films until Godzilla Final Wars brought all the monsters out for one giant blowout.

Godzilla 2 has a release date currently set for June 8, 2018. If you’re wondering why the date is so far out, Gareth Edwards currently has his hands full directing a spin-off for Star Wars.
