Following the not so smooth launch of SimCity earlier this month, EA and Maxis are trying to make amends by offering SimCity players one free title from Origin, out of a list of eight.

If you’ve already activated your copy of SimCity, you should receive an email explaining the process of getting your free Origin game at some point today. You have until the 25th of March to register your copy of SimCity, otherwise you won’t be able to take advantage of this offer. Upon doing so and signing into Origin, a ‘Featured Today’ window will appear with a link directing you to the page in which you can claim your free game. The window will appear once per day upon start-up and when you quit SimCity and will disappear after you’ve acquired your game of choice.

List of games being offered:

Battlefield 3 (Standard Edition)

Bejeweled 3

Dead Space 3 (Standard Edition)

Mass Effect 3 (Standard Edition)

Medal of Honor Warfighter (Standard Edition)

Need For Speed Most Wanted (Standard Edition)

Plants vs. Zombies

SimCity 4 Deluxe Edition

Maxis will be opening up the free game redemption portal one country at a time, but by March 22nd, everyone should be able to select their free game:

North America by 5pm PST/midnight GMT on Wednesday, March 20.

Europe by 5pm PST/midnight GMT on Thursday, March 21.

Asia &; South America by 5pm PST/midnight GMT on Friday, March 22.

SimCity buyers have until March 30, 2013 at 11:59PM PDT to claim their free game. Any additional information can be found on this FAQ page made specifically for the occasion.

In a way, you can kinda take this as a ‘buy SimCity, get one game free’ offer; it certainly is a decent list of games.
