Capcom seems set on making 2018 the year of Mega Man. Along with the release of Mega Man 11 this December, both Mega Man Legacy Collection 1 and 2 will be released for the Nintendo Switch on May 22nd. These compilations will be available for purchase separately on the Nintendo eShop, or together in a physical package.

The first Mega Man Legacy Collection was released for PS4, Xbox One, 3DS, and PC back in 2015 and contains the six NES Mega Man titles. In addition to providing a great means of experiencing the series’ fast-paced run-n-gun action, this collection includes a challenge mode containing difficult trials for players to master, a museum which contains information and concept art, a jukebox containing each game’s soundtrack, and online leaderboards for players who wish to show off their speed running talents.

Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 released in August of last year for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. This contained the latter four classic Mega Man entries, including the difficult to find Mega Man 7. Despite these entries originally running on systems ranging from the SNES to the PS3/360, the emulation here was notably just as smooth as in the first collection. Of particular note here, Mega Man 9 and 10 came included with all of their DLC. The additional features from the previous compilation are included here as well.

The Nintendo Switch versions of the Legacy collections will feature Amiibo support. Using either of the Mega Man Amiibo figures in the first anthology will unlock eleven fan-made challenges that were initially exclusive to the 3DS version. Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 will feature its own unique Amiibo-based features that have yet to be announced.

These collections originally retailed for $19.99 and $14.99 respectively on the eShop, the same as on other platforms. The physical compilation will retail for $39.99 and will contain Mega Man Legacy Collection on a cartridge, but only a download code for the second collection. The physical edition will also include an exclusive Mega Man 30th Anniversary cleaning cloth.

Back in December, Capcom had announced that all eight Mega Man X games would be coming to modern platforms as well, but no additional information has been given at this time.
