Rare was a company which skyrocketed to fame during the SNES-era after they released title after title consisting of amazing gameplay and game changing graphics. You only have to take a single look at the “Donkey Kong Country” series on the console, or later in the company’s life, Banjo Kazooie on the N64 to realize what a talented group of people these are.
It may come as quite a shock then to learn that George Andreas, a member of Rare who has spent sixteen years at the company who has worked on Donkey Kong 64, GoldenEye and even the lovable Viva Pinata, has left Microsoft to join Sony as a creative director.
Is this due to the seemingly restricted focus placed on Rare to only deliver Kinect-centered titles? Well that dear reader is worth a discussion…
