Konami has announced that Cloaked in Silence, the next DLC campaign for Metal Gear Online will be launching March 15th, and will bring 3 new maps, a new game mode, and a familiar new character: Quiet.
The three new maps are all from The Phantom Pain single-player experience, but optimized for multiplayer gameplay. The three new maps are:
- The Coral Complex, which takes place on the Motherbase so players will have access to the tall towers and plethora of storage containers, rooms, and other internal areas for a combination of both open combat and stealthier, tactical attacks;
- The Rust Palace. Set in Afghanistan, the Rust Palace is a large, multi-level building with a skeletal structure that doesn’t provide for much cover. However the interior makes up for the lack of cover with excellent, elevated sniping positions
- The Azure Mountain, a beautiful, outdoor plain in Africa surrounding a massive rock formation known as the Cradle of Spirits, there’s only a small cluster of buildings, crumbling walls, and scraggly scrub bushes to use as cover, so timing and quick movement will be key to winning fights here.
And players will at last get the legendary sniper, Quiet, whose accuracy, speed, and unique high-jumping ability makes her an incredibly valuable asset or deadly opponent on the battlefield. Quiet can also temporarily cloak her visibility while sprinting, thus giving her even more of a boost in movement speed.
Cloaked in Silence is necessary in order to join a match with Quiet as the Unique Character.
Also coming to Metal Gear Online on April 7th is the new mode: Survival. In this mode, players create a team of 6 players, or join an existing team in order to achieve objectives over several consecutive matches. For each match the map and mission goal will change.
Players who purchase Cloaked in Silence can attempt Survival an unlimited number of times per week, and if the DLC is not purchased then Survival can be attempted up to ten times, with the number of attempts being reset during the regular maintenance every Tuesday.
There’s also a new Mission for Metal Gear Online: Sabotage. Here, players must either destroy or fulton the enemy’s Missile before the time runs out. This requires players to first hack into their enemy’s Terminals to deactivate the electromagnetic barrier protecting the Missile. After this, players can then decide to either reactivate the defenses, or protect the Missile from the next wave of attackers.
The Sabotage mission will not require the purchase of Cloaked in Silence in order to play, it’s available for all users.
There will also be new Appeal Actions, which are a new communication feature that will let players take specific poses. There will be 4 different Appeal Packs in total.
Cloaked in Silence is expected to be $3.99 upon its release on March 15th, and each Appeal Pack will be $1.99 each or can all be purchased for $6.99. The Complete Bundle for all of the aforementioned content can be purchased for $10.99.
It should be noted that the Complete Bundle will only be available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
