Metal Gear Solid V PC is On Time, Its Online Mode Isn’t

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain‘s headed our way just weeks from now this Sept. 1st. Konami tells us that its PC version will now hit the same day as its console versions – nearly two weeks ahead of its initial date. Its online mode of Metal Gear Online, however, is another matter.

Metal Gear Online will Oct. 6th and it’ll launch on Steam for PC users sometime in January 2016, the Konami Blog claims.

“We initially did not think it would be possible to get such an epic game out onto PC in time for launch alongside its console counterparts, but all involved have worked diligently to meet the demands of our PC consumers,” Tomotada Tashiro, President of Konami Digital Entertainment B.V. said. “We feel confident that Steam users will be satisfied with the contents we will provide for the Steam version.”

At over 200x the size of its prologue, last year’s Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes, The Phantom Pain is easily the biggest series entry to date, something Konami’s not shy at boasting about. Ground Zeroes already sold over a million copies on its own with mixed reception, though we were on the positive side ourselves.

Like Ground Zeroes, The Phantom Pain will boast 4K graphics and enhanced for those with NVIDIA GeForce graphics cards/ For a limited time, owners of qualifying GeForce GTX GPUs will also get a free copy of The Phantom Pain to boot, Konami says.

If you pre-order you PC copy of The Phantom Pain for Steam, you’ll also land yourself a free copy of Ground Zeroes too. A behind-the-scenes documentary, an in-game “Venom Snake” emblem, and additional Mother Base Staff will also be available to Steam users.

The Phantom Pain will launch for both console generations: Playstation 4, Xbox One, Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.
