Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and PES 2015 Confirmed for Gamescom 2014

Konami has confirmed that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and PES 2015 will both be present at Gamescom 2014 in Cologne, Germany.

The highly anticipated MGSV: The Phantom Pain is expected to “show off the power of Kojima Production’s FOX Engine,” with Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima already demonstrating his capabilities of pushing next-generation software.

PES 2015 will no doubt want to prove a point that the football franchise can still compete against EA’s FIFA 15, as Konami claims that the latest title “boasts the most realistic simulation of the beautiful game to date.” Additionally, Konami has confirmed that a playable version of PES 2015 will be available at Gamescom.

“With METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN and PES 2015 we will be proudly presenting two of our strongest brands at Europe’s biggest games show, to a huge audience keen for new details,” says Konami’s general manager Martin Schneider. “Both games show the commitment and energy KONAMI is bringing to the new formats. We look forward to sharing such important releases with the huge audience at the most vital European event in the gaming calendar.”

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is Kojima’s latest installment that takes the series into a full-blown open-world setting, with it carrying on the story that its prologue, Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroesstarted earlier this year. Stepping into the role of Big Boss, the legendary soldier awakens from a coma and begins his journey to find out those who were responsible for the attack on his previous organisation, Militaires Sans Frontières, whilst we watch Snake’s transformation from hero to villain begin.

PES 2015 is scheduled for release later this year on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain has not received an official release date — although The Guardian did interview Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima and suggested that the title is expected for release March 17th, 2015 — but it’s certain that the game will be released before the end of 2015 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
