For those not yet familiar with the dispute, Motorola is currently calling for the US government to shut down sales of certain models of the Xbox 360 that they claim infringe on 5 of their wireless technology patents. After the Xbox has already been banned from sale, in Germany, a decision on whether the same will happen here is to be decided. Recently, Motorola offered Microsoft a settlement in which Motorola would receive 2.25% from every Xbox 360 sale and 50 cents for every copy of Windows sold. Do the math and that comes out to a quite large number, right out of Microsoft’s bottom line. Microsoft, of course, declined the settlement and the dispute continues.
