Minecraft Will Launch On Nintendo Switch This May

Nintendo has announced today that Minecraft will be launching on the Nintendo Switch on May 11 via the Nintendo eShop. A physical release has been confirmed for after May 11, but no official date has currently been set.

Also announced at the Nintendo Direct, the Switch version will also receive the exclusive Super Mario Mash-Up Pack that was previously announced for the Wii U version last year. The Mash-Up pack will feature new player skins – such as Mario, Luigi, Prince Peach, Bowser, and Wario – along with new Mario-themed textures, music and much more.

Minecraft on the Nintendo Switch will play a little different to the other console versions that are available as the Switch offers various viewing and playing options with their Joy-Cons, and choices of TV or portable screens. Players can expect to see up to 8 players online, with 4 being able to join in local multiplayer via the TV or tabletop mode – both split-screen and Pro Controller will be supported.

Minecraft was one of the first games to be announced for the Nintendo Switch back in January when they held their reveal event, but it wasn’t until now that we have heard more concrete information about the game’s details and release dates.
