Gears of War gameplay designer, Lee Perry, has revealed that his studio BitMonster Games is working on a mobile title that will be powered by the Unreal Engine. The game is under the name “Lili”, which is described as “a quirky adventure RPG hybrid developed for Apple’s world-class gaming devices”.
The upcoming game is set on an island called Geos where the protagonist Lili will explore the game environments, interact with less than sane people, and even get involved with the “politics” of the island. BitMonster explains that the game has a unique “non-combat” system which Lili uses to deal with her enemies, and “in her introspective way, sorts out a few personal issues for good measure”.
“Epic has been extremely supportive of our new studio and in helping us build the game of our dreams,” says Perry, “we set out to create an adventure for nearly anyone. As a designer, it’s exciting to see that the Unreal Engine 3 tools are better than ever, and they provide everything we need to achieve a gratifying and imaginative experience.”
Epic has also announced a “long term Unreal Engine licensing deal” that permits BitMonster Games to develop multiple titles with the engine.
Lili is in the final stages of development, but has no set release date.
