MONARK takes place in Shin Mikado Academy, where a madness-inducing mist is surrounding the whole place. As a result, you’re the only one who can save everyone from the mist. You need to develop your Ego and defeat the pacts set by the Pactbearers.
The game brings you into the Otherworld, a Daemon-filled dimension beyond our reality. Within this mysterious place, you must learn to master your abilities and conjure an army of Fiends. Their power comes from your Ego, so the stronger your Ego, the more powerful your Fiends are.
You develop your Ego through various psychological tests. You must harness the power of your madness to gain strength, without going too far. Fellow students and teachers will also lend a hand in your battle against the anomalies on campus.
Key Features
In MONARK you jump between exploring the Mist of the real world and fighting within the Otherworld. You can also call upon allies to help you fight the enemies and solve the mysteries surrounding the academy. Though you have to make sure you don’t go mad in the process.
The mysterious realms are brought to life in a surreal, dark neo-fantasy style. It features intricate character designs and evocative settings. As you strengthen your Ego, you can customize the appearance and abilities of your Fiends. You may also unlock different Fiends to command in battle. With the freeform tactical system, you can position your units and unleash destruction upon your enemies.
