Do you remember Mr. Driller? It’s a puzzle platformer series that made its debut on arcades and home consoles in 1999. It features the son of Dig Dug’s protagonist Taizo Hori as he drills through colorful blocks to reach the bottom of each stage. Well, Bandai Namco is going to release a Japan-exclusive game in the series worldwide. The lucky hosts of this venture will be the Nintendo Switch and PC platforms.
Drill Your Way Through DrillLand
In Mr. Driller DrillLand, you’re invited to a secret amusement park known as “DrillLand”—500 meters underground. Of course, like any amusement park, there are 5 different attractions with simple, yet exciting, gameplay that guests of all ages can enjoy. Each of the five attractions in DrillLand features its own set of unique gameplay rules.
Mr. Driller DrillLand initially made its debut back on December 20, 2002, as a Nintendo Gamecube game in Japan. Now, the game will be available on Nintendo Switch and PC with remastered graphics and HD cutscenes. Additionally, you can play with up to 4 different players in multiple competitive multiplayer modes.
The game will be available for purchase digitally on both PC and Switch worldwide. However, Japanese players will be able to get a physical edition of the game for 3,520 yen. This edition of the game will only be available for the Nintendo Switch platform, however.
PC distribution worldwide will be handled by Steam. No word about whether or not it’ll reach other storefronts like GOG or the Epic Games Store. However, we’ll be sure to keep in touch about whether or not the game will release elsewhere.
