Bandai Namco Reveals Western Sales Figure for Dark Souls II

Safe at last. Just dont burn your fingers.

As well as Dark Souls II sales, Bandai Namco also revealed that God Eater 2 sold 700,000 copies in Japan.

Bandai Namco have revealed that their best selling game of the last quarter was Dark Souls II, with over 1.2 million copies shipped to stores. Once thought to be a niche property, the Souls series is proving that titles focused on gaming enthusiasts can sell well and be profitable. The original Dark Souls sold 1.3 million units in the same time period so the sequel isn’t too far behind. However, this figure only includes sales in Europe and North America on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms. Dark Souls II sold over 260,000 units in its first week in Japan and it also recently launched on the PC. It is therefore looking likely that Dark Souls II could sell over 2 million copies when all is said and done, especially if it gets an expanded version as the original did.

This information was revealed at Bandai Namco’s conference call to discuss the past fiscal year. As well as the Dark Souls II number, we also learned that the company’s Mobile Suit Gundam property has recorded revenues of over $800 million.  Altogether the company made a profit of $250 million, down 22.6 per cent on last year.
